About the Rep Teams

We are pleased to offer Pakmen Rep teams for competitive players who want the challenge of training with peers with similar abilities and competing in Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) and Volleyball Canada tournaments and championships. Our teams have players from many different schools, different towns, and we are Canada's most diverse volleyball club!

Record
Our rep program is one of the most successful and respected programs in the OVA. In our 9 year history we have won over one hundred tournaments, including 8 Canadian National Championships and 18 Ontario Provincial Championships.

Training

13U and 14U teams normally train twice a week from 6 to 8 pm and and 15U, 16U, 17U and 18U teams normally train from 8 to 10 pm. Competitions are approximately held once every 4 to 6 weeks. Some teams may elect to also play 'up' in an older age group and compete more often. Competitions are usually held within the GTA but occasionally held outside this region. Our coaches are NCCP certified.

We are pleased to have former National team setter and former University of Toronto Men's Varsity Blues Head Coach Jeff Chung work with our male and female setters on a weekly basis.

Fees

Pakmen Volleyball is a registered not-for-profit organization driven by volunteers. Our club fees are strictly based on breaking even. We are sponsored by Nike and our fees are among the lowest in the OVA. Anyone interested in trying out for a Rep Team must attend the tryouts in September.  There is a $20 tryout fee.

13U and 14U boys can expect to pay somewhere around $600 in fees for the 2011-2012 competitive season.  The girls will pay more as they opt for more apparel, accessories, and tournaments.

15U to 18U team fees are greater than the 13U and 14U team fees because players on these teams also receive a second Nike game jersey (different colour) and a Nike Pakmen track suit. In addition, they may compete in more tournaments than the younger teams, including the Nationals. Team fees for each team will be presented in a budget, discussed and finalized at a parents meeting, right after the team has been selected

Are the Rep Teams right for you?

The Rep Teams are for the most advanced volleyball players. Many talented volleyball players try out for our Rep Teams but they don't get in because we only have limited spots available, not because they aren't capable. For those who are gifted volleyball players, but have other commitments, we recommend trying out for the GTA Premier League or Gettin' Better. This league is for the most talented players from throughout the GTA and will train exactly like the Rep Team players, only once a week instead of twice. Also, they will compete against each other (6 teams in a league) instead of attending OVA tournaments. If you love the game but are not an elite player, we recommend either the Development League or the Champions League.
