The Mississauga Pakmen boys’ under-14 volleyball team
has proven, once again, that it’s the team to beat in Ontario.
The No.
1-ranked squad in the Ontario Volleyball Association came away with yet another
tournament victory, defeating Durham Attack Black to capture the Challenge Cup
East Championship, held recently in Stouffville.
The last time these two
rivals met, Durham came out on top. This time, the Pakmen prevailed in two sets
(25-14, 25-20).
“I am so immensely proud of the boys,” said Pakmen head
coach Phillip Rodrigues. “They worked very hard, kept the momentum on our side
and came out with the hard-earned victory.”
In the semi-finals, Pakmen
downed Vaughan Wolfpack 25-18, 25-15.
In the quarter-finals, Pakmen took out
Pegasus Thunder 25-11, 25-12.
Team members are Nick Vukosa, Stephen Cadamuro,
Ebbasa Dugassa, Robert Kanko, Brinder Toor, Louis Abela, Kristian McCarthy,
Alexandre Marinez, Manpreet Chatha, Joraver Sangha and Brian Han.
Other
coaches are Thomas Leca and Kelly Smith.
