The Mississauga Pakmen boys' under-15 volleyball team
won an Ontario Volleyball Association tournament held this past Saturday in
Bradford.
The team won the McGregor Cup tournament's premier division
championship by beating Durham Attack in two sets (25-22, 25-21).
"We have
been concentrating on our blocking over the past two weeks and it showed as the
boys were able to put up a strong block all day long," said Mississauga head
coach Kelly Smith.
In the semi-final, Pakmen defeated Toronto Interclub 2-1
(25-14, 15-25, 15-8). In the quarter-final, the team beat Ottawa Fusion Red 2-0
(25-12, 25-15).
Pakmen went undefeated in preliminary-round play and didn't
lose a single game the entire tournament.
Team members are Daniel Wardak,
Ricky Brar, Kevin Miller, Matthew Miller, Brandon Koppers, Mathew Doraty, Kevin
Nguyen, Dmitry Darashkou, Chris Adams, Jeremy Wolff, Nathan Murdock, Shawn
Lasala and Adrian Davies. Other coaches are Phillip Rodrigious, Andrew Ceolin,
Ivan Mamuzic and Diem Hyunh
